Caltrans is scheduled to rehabilitate a section of U.S. Highway 50, known as the W/X Viaduct, in 2014. Built in 1968, this section of freeway is comprised of two 2,530 foot-long parallel structures that carry six lanes of traffic over city streets, freight, and light rail lines in downtown Sacramento. These structures have extensive cracking on the deck and are in need of rehabilitation in order to enhance safety, reduce recurring maintenance costs, and increase the life of the concrete decks.
